Early Childhood

At Zarkor, a private school, our main objective for early childhood education is to nurture our young students so that they continue to learn and develop throughout their adult lives and to set them on a path, which will educate them to become generous, considerate and empathetic people while allowing each boy and girl to excel and grow in their own unique way.

Our curriculum and classrooms are designed to help achieve this goal. When we manage to help children stay connected and engaged with what happens in their classroom, they end up becoming adults who continue to learn throughout the rest of their lives. They begin to enjoy learning and take responsibility for it, thus allowing learning to form the basis of their growth and development. For this reason, play and exploration are at the heart of early childhood education at Zarkor. We consider play to be “serious business” – as this is children’s work! It naturally leads them to ask questions about the world around them, which leads them to dig deeper and investigate. Curious and inquisitive children enjoy learning and succeed in taking responsibility for their actions, while being shaped by the experience of discovery.

No two children will learn and grow the same way. Some children learn better through oral teaching, others learn with the help of sensory experiences, while some learn most effectively through play and expression using socio-dramatic activities. Therefore, we build our curriculum to ensure that every child is offered a wide range of topics and activities that they can stimulate their interest, including languages, mathematics, STEM (science, technology, engineering, math), art, sensory play, dramatic play, and more. Once a child finds their way to engage themselves with the learning process and topics, he/she becomes more willing to take risks and explore new fields of inquiry. Here too, children who enjoy learning take responsibility for it and continue to grow as they learn more.

What all the children have in common is the need to interact with their kindergarten friends, no matter how different they are from one another. These interactions promote the development of children’s social skills needed to navigate their connection with others and necessary for them to become happy and successful people. For this reason, kindness, empathy and respect are the glue that holds together the entire educational experience at our Bilingual Kindergarten and beyond.
